Imprivata Connector
BACKGROUND
Imprivata is a partner with EPIC, one of the largest EMR corporations in the US today. For most healthcare systems, they have a large installation of systems to manage all aspects of the hospital; for the smaller locations they leverage their APIs for lightweight, easy to integrate, systems.
The connector is designed to provide a similar interface on these lightweight installations, as we have on the larger ones.
The Challenge
The Connector application needed to address the same areas that our OneSign application did, but had a smaller footprint. In order to build it correctly, I needed ti partner with our support team to understand the issues some of our customers were encountering.
After initial user research, I drew up the workflows that were noted to be necessary. Three iterations of sketching with feedback from PM and Engineering, we had an agreed upon design.
There were two key areas that needed to be designed:
- Desktop installer
- Imprivata input overlay
Desktop Installer
Every piece of software has a different design for their desktop installer, designed by the engineering team working on it. With this new installer, I needed to create a design template matched to the design guidelines the product team had created. This template would first be applied to this application but is being applied across all desktop installers.
IMPrivata Input Overlay
The original design was built leveraging the old version of the OneSign login as the input overlay.
The product team has been engaged in a redesign of the log in experience from top to bottom, and using the dated and soon-to-be replaced design pattern was not acceptable. The designs were updated following our design patterns to present a more modern and usable application.
